Dr. Richard Taylor (Wyre Forest) (Ind):
"Does the Prime Minister agree that the Government's handling of yesterday's
Mental Capacity Bill debate was lamentable, and that it leads to a decision that should have been made by this House being passed weakly to the House of Lords?"
The Prime Minister:
"I do not agree with the hon. Gentleman. It was important for us to be able to respond to the claims that were being made. The legal
advice that we have is very clear: the Bill as originally framed would not have had the effect that those who are campaigning against it say. However, when it is clear that there is a widespread doubt as to whether that is the case, it is surely sensible for the Government to listen to that doubt and take account
f it, and to come back
to people and say that we will table amendments at the House of Lords stage that will make it clear that, while the Bland judgment will remain in being, we will not in any shape or form countenance the deliberate killing of people. I would have thought that that position would recommend itself to everyone."

The
voting record for Dr. Taylor IKHH Wyre Forest
is more than ten times better than that of the Prime Minister!
"The prime minister has made too much of a habit of bypassing this parliament and has also ridden roughshod over the views of many of his parliamentary party."
Charles
Kennedy
"We all understand that high-profile politicians have to be away from the House of Commons from time to time but a voting record of 6% is beginning to make a mockery of Parliament."
Liam Fox (29%)
Conservative party co-chairman.
Even Prime Ministers Margaret Thatcher and John Major attended almost four times as often as Mr. Blair.

The percentages do not reflect absentions by MPs
