"People Power Wins Again!"
Bewdley disruption delayed
until after the Tourist Season

Today (06/02/09) it was reported that the Water mains work in High Street and Load Street, Bewdley, would be deferred until January/February 2010 .. as requested by the People of Bewdley.

After representations from MP Dr. Richard Taylor, the people of Bewdley, local traders, the Bewdley Development trust, and Bewdley Town Council; Balfour-Beatty and the Utility Companies have seen sense and put back the repair-work until the quiet, winter period at the beginning of next year.

Thanks to everyone in Bewdley for pulling together under the leadership of Deputy Mayor, Derek Killingworth, and Phil Brook (owner of 'The Deli'). We have once again, made people stop and listen.

Read Derek Killingworth's report of the public dissatisfaction expressed at two public meetings with Balfour Beatty's liaison about planned service repairs, the disruption that will cause, and the effect that would have on local traders in an already depressed economy.
