Independent Kidderminster Hospital and Health Concern

2 OCTOBER 2003

With the depressing form of the Harriers and the loss, hopefully only temporary, of the Wyre Forest Birthing Centre we need to think of some of the good news locally.

Personally I revel in being an independent MP. Not only can I vote with complete freedom from a party whip but also I do not have to attend a major party conference. Thus for the three weeks of the conference season very little happens in London and I can catch up with reading, correspondence and the progress of local affairs.

What are some of the good news items here at home now?

  1. The Kidderminster town centre development progresses well and parking when I have used it appears to be getting better.
  2. I understand that the level of car parking charges has been held in the town whereas to my surprise 2 hours parking at the hospital is now £1.
  3. The District Council has agreed to fund the installation of some CCTV equipment which retailers and customers have desired for so long.
  4. The Council has also worked out a rescue package for Bewdley Museum that would have been a fearfully sad loss for ourselves and visitors including schoolchildren.
