Major Changes Announced
to Continue Party Growth.

At their annual party conference, Sunday 7th September (2008), Independent Health Concern announced a series of improvements and structural changes to take the party forward in its continuing growth and influence in local and national politics.

In presenting the changes Howard Martin said
"To reflect our commitment to the community our name is being amended to
"Independent Community & Health Concern" – we recognise that there are those who, wrongly, still brand us as single issue but we know we long ceased to be just that and our new name will give that focus and identity to the community and to the broad issues we have addressed for some time now."

Dr Richard Taylor said
"NHS issues will always be of vital importance to us, especially now the abolition of prescription charges, improvements in quality of care and the need for a public debate on healthcare rationing to make resources available for new treatments is so much to the fore. We have never been a single issue party and to underline this we are widening our name and appeal while retaining the defining
"Independent" and the time-honoured "Health Concern."

Independent Health Concern is a local independent party dedicated to the improvement of local services in all areas of concern to the community.

We are independent of all national political parties, and all of its elected councillors are free of the constraints imposed by the whips of other parties.

Independent Health Concern councillors put people before politics, and their loyalties are to ratepayers rather than a political party.
