Successful
Candidate
Dear Broadwaters Voter,
I am pleased to offer myself as your Independent
Kidderminster Hospital and Health Concern candidate for, together,
we should ensure that party politica do not get in the way of the real
needs of Broadwaters.
Married with two children I have
lived in Kidderminster for 22 years and worked at the hospital from
1983 until taking redundancy in 2001. Currently, a Nursing Auxiliary
at the hospital via The Staff Bank, Community & Mental Health
Trust, I've been an active Hospital Campaigner from 1997: in 'the
shop', lobbying Parliament and working to get Dr. Richard Taylor
elected.
I now have time and the opportunity
to help Ken Stokes' work in Broadwaters, representing voters' needs
and wishes while contributing to:-
- Improved emergency services
in line with Dr. Taylor's campaign
- Monitoring difficulties
experienced in using the new hospital
- The major Horsefair
Redevelopment Project and additional 'partnership' skateboarding
facilities
- Broadwaters' Mill
refurbishment with extra focus for youngsters
- Evaluating the traffic
modifications on the Wolverhampton Road while pressing for a new
'Pelican' crossing
- Helping with social housing
queries
- Any other ward matters that
electors wish to discuss with me
My trade union background and service
on a Tenants' Consultative Committee encourages me to offer my
services to you as a truly 'Independent' candidate at this
election.

Wyre Forest MP,
Dr. Richard Taylor, says:
"We have brought
democracy back to where it belongs; with the people. Health
Concern shows decision makers they must take into account the
needs, wishes and requirements of voters. With other groups, we have
governed the District Council effectively and straightened-out local
spending despite added Government burdens and a £2 Million shortfall
in grants. We are currently seeking cost effective ways of maintaining
leisure, museum and play area services."
HEALTH - The
Hosiptal
The District Council Task
Force closely monitors the hospital situation while Health
Concern Councillors Gordon, Martin, Glass, Paterson, &
Shellie co-ordinated a FIVE hospital lobby of
Parliament on 25th March. Strong letters were delivered to Messrs.
Blair and Milburn pressing for improved emergency services. Recent
research by the Royal College of Physicians and the latest reports by
Prof. Darzi confirm the case we constantly make.
HEALTH - The
Incinerator
As promised, Health Concern has
backed SKI with personal funds and gave well argued written and spoken
submissions to the Government's inspector, emphasising why the burner
should not be allowed on Stourport Road or anywhere near populated
areas like ours. We shall continue to be vigilant.
EDUCATION
We are working for a fairer distribution of Government
funds to our children's schools and in Wyre Forest's coming school's
review - 3 tier or 2 tier ? - we will call for real consultation and
for the full facts to be available to everyone involved."
